In his opening remarks, Dr. Hang Chhun Narong emphasized four important recommendations regarding teaching standards:
- Professional Knowledge: Teachers should understand their students, their families, national education policies, teaching theories, and students’ learning styles. They should possess deep knowledge, engage in research, and demonstrate creativity in their work to enhance students’ capabilities.
- Professional Practice: Teachers should have extensive knowledge, particularly in relevant subjects, and employ diverse teaching methods tailored to students’ interests. They should organize lessons effectively, monitor students’ progress, participate in school development activities, provide consistent support, and incorporate information technology into teaching and learning.
- Professional Development: Teachers should regularly evaluate their teaching, develop their knowledge in information technology, communication, and effective teaching practices, strengthen relationships with students’ families and the community, and engage in lifelong learning, particularly in competencies relevant to 21st-century education.
- Professional Ethics: Teachers should uphold ethics, discipline, good behavior, integrity, fairness, and honesty. They should demonstrate positive character, moral integrity, and exemplary conduct in their work within schools and communities, serving as role models for students and society.
This event reflects the commitment to improving the quality of education and the professional development of teachers in Cambodia.
